If you‘re anything like me, you‘ve spent countless hours of your life searching for the perfect pair of no-show socks. You know, the kind that actually stay on your feet, feel comfortable, and don‘t peek out from your shoes. It‘s a taller order than you might think!
Enter Ondo, a new brand that launched in 2020 with the sole mission of creating the best no-show socks on the planet. Founded by Daniel Shim, Ondo makes socks that are supposed to "elevate every movement."
After hearing rave reviews from publications like Men‘s Health and Cosmopolitan, I knew I had to try Ondo socks out for myself. For this review, the brand sent me a pair of their Organic Cotton No-Show Socks in black and white, as well as their Premium Mesh Laundry Bag.
I‘ve spent the last few weeks putting these socks through their paces—wearing them to work out, run errands, lounge at home, you name it. I‘m excited to share my honest thoughts, along with everything else you need to know about Ondo. Let‘s dive in!
What Makes Ondo Socks Special?
Ondo means "temperature" in Korean, speaking to the brand‘s obsession with how their socks should feel on your feet. Ondo is all about creating socks that fit well, feel great, and never, ever slip down.
Sounds simple enough, but it‘s actually remarkably hard to find no-show socks that check all those boxes. Most of the ones I‘ve tried in the past either slide off my heels, dig into my toes, or are weirdly bulky.
So what‘s Ondo‘s secret? It really comes down to the unique construction and materials:
Innovative design: Unlike typical no-show socks, Ondo builds theirs more like a shoe, with overlapping panels and a contoured shape. This helps them conform to your feet while allowing room to move. There‘s also special cushioning in key areas like the toes.
Premium fabrics: The Organic Cotton No-Shows are made of 62% organic cotton for softness and breathability, blended with polyester and lycra for stretch and structure. Ondo also uses a unique technical fabric called Aerolite.
Ethical production: Ondo socks are designed in South Korea and made in carefully chosen factories in Vietnam and South Korea. The brand is committed to fair labor practices.
In addition to the cotton version I tried, Ondo also makes no-shows in merino wool and a low-cut silhouette. All of their socks come in a range of colors and unisex sizes from XS to XL.
Ondo Organic Cotton No-Show Socks Review
Now for the moment of truth: my experience with Ondo‘s bestselling Organic Cotton No-Show Socks. When I first pulled them on, I could immediately feel the difference compared to other no-show socks I‘ve worn.
The fit was perfect—snug enough to feel secure, but not at all constrictive. The fabric was light and silky against my skin. And even just walking around my house, I was struck by how well they stayed in place. No tugging or readjusting needed.
I wore my Ondo socks to the office with loafers, out running errands with sneakers, and to the gym. Not once did I have to deal with the dreaded heel slippage or peek-a-boo effect when my socks bunch up and show outside my shoes. Miraculously, they really, truly stayed put.
On top of that, the socks were so breathable, I barely noticed I was wearing them. The strategic cushioning in the toe area was a nice touch too, providing a bit of extra comfort without feeling overly padded.
After a few weeks of regular wear, my Ondo socks still look and feel fantastic. I‘ve been washing them in the Premium Mesh Laundry Bag (more on that in a minute) and laying flat to dry. They‘ve held up beautifully, with no signs of stretching out or wearing thin.
At $12 for a single pair, Ondo socks are pricier than your average grocery store multi-pack. But in my opinion, the quality and performance are 100% worth it. Plus, Ondo offers multi-pair packs that bring the per-pair price down to as low as $9.60.
I also appreciate that you can buy just one pair to start, rather than having to commit to a big bundle. It gave me a chance to see if I liked them before stocking up.
Ondo Premium Mesh Laundry Bag Review
Normally I wouldn‘t bother writing a whole section of a review about a laundry bag, but this one deserves a special shoutout. The Premium Mesh Laundry Bag from Ondo is made of a durable mesh fabric that protects delicates in the wash.
I‘ve been using it to wash my Ondo socks and I‘m confident it‘s helping them last longer. The mesh is fine enough that it doesn‘t let the socks get roughed up, but still allows water and soap to flow through and get them clean.
The bag is generously sized, so I can fit all my Ondo socks in a single load, with room to spare. It has a sturdy zipper closure and a built-in hanging loop. And as a nice bonus, it‘s made of 100% recycled polyester, so it‘s an eco-friendly choice.
While $14 is definitely a splurge for a laundry bag, I think it‘s a worthy investment for making my Ondo socks (and other delicates) last as long as possible. If you don‘t want to spring for the Ondo-branded one, I still recommend using some kind of mesh bag to protect your socks in the wash.
What Other Reviewers Say About Ondo Socks
In researching for this post, I was curious to see what other Ondo customers had to say about the socks. And spoiler alert: people are seriously passionate about them!
On the Ondo website, the Organic Cotton No-Show Socks have a near-perfect average rating of 4.8 stars from over 6,000 reviews. Customers rave about the fit, comfort, and no-slip staying power. A few standout quotes:
"I have spent most of my adult life looking for socks I love. I FINALLY found the perfect sock! They work with ALL shoes. I‘ve been converted for life." – Amy J.
"It took some getting used to the unique fit of Ondo socks, but now I don‘t think I‘ll ever buy another kind. They don‘t show at all under my sneakers and feel amazing on my feet." – Mike P.
"At first I thought $12 for one pair of socks was crazy, but after wearing Ondo, I get it. They‘re game-changing! Worth every penny and then some." – Jess M.
The brand‘s other sock styles and Mesh Laundry Bag have similarly glowing reviews. I even found several threads on Reddit of people singing Ondo‘s praises.
Of course, no product is perfect for everyone. A few reviewers with especially wide or narrow feet found that the socks didn‘t fit quite right. And some wished there was a little more cushioning throughout.
But overall, the vast majority of wearers (myself included) are thrilled with Ondo socks. The brand also offers attentive customer service and easy returns/exchanges if you‘re not totally satisfied.
Bottom Line: Are Ondo Socks Worth It?
If you can‘t tell by now, I‘m a total Ondo convert. After years of buying sub-par no-show socks, it‘s refreshing to finally find a pair that checks all the boxes for fit, comfort, and performance.
Yes, they‘re more expensive than your run-of-the-mill socks. But for me, the cost is 100% justified by how well they‘re made and how great they feel to wear. No more heel blisters, toe cramping, or awkward sock slippage!
While I can only personally vouch for the Organic Cotton No-Shows, I‘m confident Ondo‘s other socks are equally impressive, based on the rave reviews. I especially appreciate that they offer a few different material and cut options to suit different preferences.
As a bonus, Ondo is a company I feel good supporting, thanks to their commitment to ethical manufacturing and eco-friendly initiatives. They even donate a portion of profits to provide socks to homeless shelters.
Between the quality of the product, the stellar customer service, and the brand‘s values, I‘m happy to pay a bit of a premium for Ondo socks. I know I‘ll be adding more pairs to my collection, and I‘d recommend them to anyone else hunting for the perfect no-show socks.
