Hey fashion lovers! Today I want to put you on to one of my absolute favorite streetwear brands of the moment: Rockstar Original. This LA-based label is all about pushing boundaries with their bold, edgy designs that make a major statement. As someone who lives for clothes that turn heads, I‘ve been obsessed with Rockstar Original ever since I discovered them on Instagram a few years back. I‘ve since scooped up several of their pieces and gotten so many compliments every time I rock them.
So what‘s the deal with Rockstar Original? Let‘s dive into an honest, in-depth review of what this brand is all about and why you need to add some of their gear to your wardrobe ASAP.
What is Rockstar Original?
Rockstar Original is a fashion-forward streetwear and denim brand that isn‘t afraid to push the envelope. Founded in 2013 by Frank Mechaly and David Mathey, two French designers with a serious eye for style, the label has made a name for itself with its unapologetically bold aesthetic.
Mechaly and Mathey are no strangers to the fashion game. They first cut their teeth with their denim brand Starship, which gained a cult following in the early 2000s for its premium quality jeans with distinctive details. They launched Rockstar Original as a way to expand their vision and create a full range of streetwear essentials with the same fearless approach.
Every piece Rockstar Original puts out is designed to get noticed, from bright tie dye hoodies to sexy lace-up dresses to patched and studded denim jackets with major rock vibes. But it‘s not just about standing out – Mechaly and Mathey are obsessed with quality too. They use only the best materials, like premium cotton and denim, and the construction is top-notch. These are statement pieces made to last.
One of my favorite things about Rockstar Original is that they make clothes for everyone. Unlike some streetwear brands that only cater to one gender, they have options for men, women, and even kids. And they‘re size-inclusive too, with most styles available from XS to 3XL. Fashion should be for everybody, and Rockstar Original gets that.
Rockstar Original Women‘s Clothing Review
Ladies, if you want to turn up the heat on your streetwear looks, Rockstar Original needs to be on your radar. Their women‘s collection is stacked with sexy, edgy pieces that are perfect for a night out, festival season, or any time you want all eyes on you.
I‘m obsessed with their Viper Dress, a slinky lace-up mini dress that comes in hot pink and black. The stretchy cotton fabric hugs your curves in all the right places, and the corset-inspired lace-up detailing on the sides is straight up fire. I rocked it to the club with some pointy-toe booties and felt like a total smoke show. It‘s usually $149 but I snagged it on sale for $59 – such a steal.
Another Rockstar fave of mine is the Coraline Moto Jacket. If you‘re looking for a statement outerwear piece, this is it. Buttery soft faux leather, silver hardware, and perfectly placed zippers and snaps to give it that authentic biker vibe. I love throwing it on over a sexy dress or lace bodysuit for an unexpected twist. And it has a slightly cropped fit that‘s super flattering. I paid $98 for it and have zero regrets.
Their Zuri Lace-Up Pants are another must-cop. These skinny jeans feature lace-up detailing down the front of each leg that adds a sexy peek of skin. I love pairing them with a baggy graphic tee and sneakers for a chill look, or dressing them up with heels and a cute crop top for a night out. They‘re stretchy and so comfortable too. A wardrobe staple for $78.
Rockstar Original Men‘s Clothing Review
Fellas, don‘t think I forgot about you. Rockstar Original‘s men‘s collection is just as fire as the women‘s. These designs are not for the faint of heart – they‘re loud, flashy, and make a major statement. But if you have the confidence to pull them off, you‘ll be collecting compliments all day.
One of their most hyped drops is the Midas Jacket, a blinged-out denim jacket with gold studded and embroidered details on the back. The quality of this piece is insane – the denim is hefty and structured, and the studs and embroidery are all perfectly placed. It‘s a true statement piece that will turn heads wherever you go. I‘ve seen it sold out multiple times, so grab it for $149 while you can.
For a more everyday flex, check out their Death Valley Skull Hoodie. This black pullover hoodie features a huge skull graphic on the back with the Rockstar Original logo, and a smaller skull hit on the chest. It‘s made of a soft cotton/poly blend and has a modern, slightly cropped fit. Perfect for rocking with jeans or joggers for a streetwear-inspired fit. One of the best hoodies out there for $89.
And don‘t forget about the ultimate streetwear staple: a sick pair of jeans. Rockstar Original‘s Rider Skinny Jeans are some of the most distinctive denim out there, with moto-inspired seaming, zippers, and a slightly faded wash for a lived-in look. They‘re slim-fit but have some stretch so they‘re still comfortable. Pair them with a graphic tee and sneakers for an easy fit. $96 well spent IMHO.
What Customers Are Saying
You don‘t just have to take my word for it – the hype around Rockstar Original is real. The brand has racked up over 1 million followers across Instagram and TikTok, and their posts are flooded with fire emojis and comments from guys and girls rocking their gear.
@jazzythrifts on Insta said "I cannot get enough of my Rockstar Original jeans! The fit is impeccable 🔥 I get so many compliments every time I wear them"
TikTok star @lordxmannyy raved about the Death Valley Skull Hoodie in a video, saying "This hoodie is everything. It‘s so soft and cozy but the graphic is hard as hell. 10/10 cop, I‘m in love😍"
And @brentternes said "Finally pulled the trigger on the Midas jacket. This thing is a work of art! Cannot recommend Rockstar enough, by far my favorite brand rn"
The brand has earned shoutouts from some big names in the streetwear and fashion world too. Rapper Lil Xan is a huge fan, frequently rocking Rockstar Original pieces on stage and in his music videos. And the brand has done collabs with major names like rapper Lil Skies and YouTube star Desiigner.
Of course, no brand is perfect, and I do see a few complaints floating around about long shipping times and inconsistent sizing. Rockstar Original is a smaller, independent brand, so they don‘t have the massive infrastructure of some big corporations. Shipping can take 1-2 weeks sometimes. And some customers find the sizing runs small, especially in the women‘s tees and dresses. But in my experience, the Rockstar team is super responsive to concerns and they offer free returns and exchanges if anything doesn‘t work out.
Why I Love Rockstar Original
For me, what makes Rockstar Original stand out from other streetwear brands is their fearless commitment to over-the-top, one-of-a-kind designs. Sure, they have some more understated, everyday pieces. But what they‘re known for is bold, edgy statement gear that stops traffic and starts convos.
As someone who uses fashion as a form of self-expression and creativity, I live for brands that take risks and push boundaries. And that‘s what Rockstar Original is all about. Their vibe is unapologetic, rebellious, and a little bit rock n roll – right up my alley.
I also can‘t say enough good things about the quality of Rockstar Original pieces. I have hoodies, tees, and jackets I‘ve been rocking for a few years now that look just as fresh as the day I bought them. Even after tons of washes and wears, the prints are still vibrant, the fabric hasn‘t thinned or pilled, and the hardware is still shiny and securely in place. You can really tell that Frank and David aren‘t messing around when it comes to quality control and construction.
Another huge pro for me is Rockstar‘s inclusive sizing. As a curvy girl with a booty, I struggle to find streetwear brands that carry pieces that fit my body. I love that most of Rockstar‘s women‘s line goes up to a 3X, so I can actually rock their jeans, tops, and jackets without them being too tight or sizing up 5 times. More streetwear brands need to wake up and realize that dope style comes in all shapes and sizes.
My Verdict on Rockstar Original
So, is Rockstar Original worth the hype? In this fashionista‘s opinion, 100% yes. No other streetwear brand is pushing the boundaries of style quite like they are right now. From the structured moto jackets to the crystal-studded jeans to the sexy lace-up dresses, every piece makes a statement and begs to be shown off. And the quality is there too – these designs are built to last way beyond one season.
Yes, Rockstar Original pieces are an investment compared to fast fashion prices. Most jeans and jackets are close to $100 or more. But for me, the cost per wear absolutely justifies the price tag, and the compliments you‘ll get are just priceless. Plus, the brand has sales all the time – follow them on Insta and join their email list for alerts. I rarely pay full price, and a sale is the perfect time to snap up a few wishlist items.
While I do think Rockstar Original has some room for improvement when it comes to shipping times and more consistent sizing, those are small cons compared to the huge pros of the brand. At the end of the day, I keep coming back to them because their designs are straight up addictive and I‘ve never been disappointed by the quality.
So my advice? If you‘re looking for streetwear that gets you noticed, a statement piece that lasts for years, or just a way to spice up your closet with some edgy vibes, you need Rockstar Original in your life. Start with a graphic tee or a signature pair of denim and build your collection from there. Trust me, you won‘t regret it.
Just make sure you snap a pic for the ‘gram when your Rockstar Original order arrives and tag me so I can see how you styled it! And if you have any questions about sizing, quality, shipping, or what pieces are worth it, DM me. I‘m always down to talk shop about my favorite brands.
Keep serving those looks and expressing yourself through what you wear. And remember, the only fashion rule that matters is to wear what makes you feel like a rockstar.
Until next time,
