Hey girl, looking for cute & trendy clothes that won‘t drain your bank account? Meet your new fashion BFF: Superdown. This online brand is the cool younger sister of Revolve, serving up Instagram-worthy ‘fits for a fraction of the price.
As a fashion-obsessed millennial on a budget, I was intrigued when I first heard about Superdown a couple years ago. Revolve has always been one of my go-to spots for dreamy dresses and designer pieces, but the prices can be a little…aspirational, to say the least. That‘s where Superdown comes in, promising the same trendy vibes as Revolve with much more wallet-friendly price tags.
Superdown officially launched in 2019 as Revolve‘s answer to fashion-forward Gen Z shoppers who live on social media. The brand‘s aesthetic is very much "going out" style: think flirty mini dresses, crop tops, cut-out details, and all the 90s trends your teenage self would‘ve died for. It‘s not necessarily everyday wear, but that‘s kind of the point – Superdown is all about those cute af looks you save for special occasions and nights out with the girls.
Price-wise, most Superdown pieces range from around $30-$100, with the majority of items clocking in under $75. That‘s a pretty sweet deal compared to Revolve‘s designer offerings, which can easily cost hundreds of dollars per piece. Of course, lower prices usually mean a bit of a quality trade-off, but more on that later.
So what exactly does Superdown offer? The brand drops new styles constantly, but the selection is tightly curated with a focus on dresses, tops, and rompers/jumpsuits. You can definitely put together a whole going-out ‘fit, but don‘t expect to find super basic tees or work-appropriate pieces.
Let‘s dive into specifics, shall we? As a dress fiend, I have to start with Superdown‘s selection of frocks. From slinky slip dresses to fun & flirty minis to sexy body-cons, they really nail the dress game. One of my fave purchases is the Jill Square Neck Dress, a black & white polka dot number with the cutest ruffle sleeves and hem. It‘s super light and comfy, and I love the vintage-inspired vibe. For date nights, I‘m obsessed with the Lottie Lace Bustier Dress – the white lace and corset bodice give off total rom com lead vibes. And for those "where‘s the party??" moods, the Kiera Strapless Dress is the move – a hot pink strapless mini with a cheeky front slit.
Superdown also kills it in the top department, with a ton of IG-worthy going out options. If you‘re down to show some skin, definitely check out the Anais Cowl Neck Top (a slinky cowl neck with a strappy open back) or the Raine Lace Bustier Top (90s vibes for days). For a more lowkey look, I love the Scoop Neck Crop Top – a super soft basic that looks cute with literally everything.
One thing to note: Superdown‘s sizing is pretty limited, with most items only available in XS-XL (about a 0-14). As someone who hovers between straight and plus sizes, I definitely think there‘s room for improvement in the inclusivity department. The styles also tend to be on the shorter/tighter side, so if you‘re tall or curvy, you might struggle to find the right fit.
Quality-wise, I‘d say Superdown is pretty good for the price point. The pieces aren‘t luxury by any means, but they don‘t feel cheap either. I‘ve had a few items start to pill or lose their shape after a couple wears, but overall, my Superdown stuff has held up decently well. I will say that some of the fabrics can be on the thin side, so I always make sure to check reviews and fabric contents before buying.
On the shipping/returns front, I‘ve had really positive experiences with Superdown. They offer free shipping on orders over $50 (which is easy to hit, let‘s be real) and returns are free within 30 days. One time, I ordered a romper that ended up being way too short on me, and customer service was super helpful with processing my return and refund. Bonus: the packaging is always cute af, with fun branding and tissue paper that makes it feel like you‘re opening a present.
So, is Superdown worth the hype? IMO, it depends on what you‘re looking for. If you want high-end designer pieces that will last forever, Superdown probably isn‘t your jam. But if you‘re down to experiment with trends and don‘t mind a more fast fashion approach, Superdown is a great option. The price point is perfect for trying out styles you might not want to fully commit to, and the brand is always on top of the latest viral looks.
Compared to other brands in the same price range (like Princess Polly or Hello Molly), I‘d say Superdown has a leg up in terms of trendiness and styling potential. The pieces are just edgier and more fashion-forward, IMHO. I also appreciate that Superdown has a good mix of sexy going-out pieces and more casual everyday options – you can definitely find some gems for all occasions.
One thing I really love about Superdown is how the brand shows clothing on different body types and skin tones on their Insta feed and product pages. As someone who‘s on the curvier side, it‘s super helpful to see how a dress might fit on someone with a similar shape to me. I do wish they had more detailed customer reviews on the actual product pages, but their social media presence is A+ for style inspo and IRL photos.
Superdown has also been doing a ton of celeb and influencer partnerships lately, which is definitely boosting their cool factor. I‘ve seen the brand on fashionistas like Gigi Hadid, Emily Ratajkowski, Olivia Culpo, and all my fave TikTok stars. While I obvs can‘t afford everything these ladies wear, it‘s nice to feel like I can get the look for less with Superdown.
At the end of the day, Superdown is the ultimate cool-girl brand that won‘t make you go broke. It‘s not the most sustainable or size-inclusive option out there, but it‘s a great way to have fun with fashion and try out the latest trends. I especially love Superdown for vacations and special events – hello, bachelorette party and b-day dinner looks! The under-$100 price point makes it easy to justify a splurge here and there.
If you‘re new to the brand, I definitely recommend starting with some of their bestsellers and most-loved pieces. The Madelyn Slip Dress is a classic for a reason – it looks amazing on literally everyone and can be dressed up or down. The Oakley Crop Top is another staple for pairing with all your high-waisted bottoms. And if you‘re looking for a good romper moment, the Brandi Romper is to die for with the sweetheart neckline and ruffle details.
For styling Superdown pieces, I‘m all about the high-low mix. I love pairing a cute crop top with vintage Levi‘s, or dressing up a slip dress with a moto jacket and boots. Superdown also has some really fun matching sets that take the guesswork out of putting together a lewk. Pro tip: sign up for the email list and stalk the sale section for some seriously good deals!
At the end of the day, fashion should be fun and make you feel amazing – and I think Superdown totally nails that vibe. No, they‘re not reinventing the wheel or leading the charge on sustainability. But they are giving baddie millennials and Gen Z fashionistas a way to express themselves and experiment with style, without spending their whole paycheck. And for that, Superdown gets a "add to cart" from me.
